The craft and material artistry of architecture is being lost as we build shitty Revit Lego buildings for developers trying to cash in through value engineering.Health Canada is advising Canadians about unauthorized health products that may pose serious health risks. I would have thought architects are more conscious of design and would use the tools that are well designed but this doesn’t seem to be the case. Become an expert at illustrator, photoshop and indesign (this last one is so important, it can really make a portfolio look beautiful and the information to be clear when you understand the fundamentals of typography, architects think they are good at graphic design but they don’t have the aesthetic or skill set for it). I think buy what you feel more comfortable using, become an expert with the tools at hand, maybe learn Blender as it’s open source and there are various rendering engines for it, it is also becoming an industry standard at this point at least for entertainment or do things by hand as some of the best work I have seen is still drawn by hand (they probably had the help of a computer for such complex perspectives and sections but it was redrawn by hand). The sad truth is that engineers set the trend for what architects use so most is based on Windows. Windows ARM runs x86 software under an emulation layer but I’m not sure how well it runs it though but considering the performance of games I’ve seen on YouTube it should run well enough. You will be able to run an ARM version of Windows in a virtualised environment on parallels.
